Six people were injured in an assault outside a bar in Pasadena last week in what police are investigating as a hate crime.
At approximately 2:20 a.m. on Friday, March 25, the six patrons were leaving an LGBTQ+ event at Ix Tapa Cantina when another group attacked them in the Colorado Boulevard parking lot adjacent to the bar, said Lt. Bill Grisafe of the Police Department of Pasadena. .
All six victims suffered varying degrees of injuries, including one who was taken to hospital with serious injuries after their friend accidentally ran them over with their vehicle as they tried to flee.
We are aware of and are actively investigating an incident that occurred last week as customers were leaving the Ixtapa canteen. The incident is being investigated as a hate crime and we are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to provide information.

“We are in the early stages of the investigation and based on what the suspects told the victims (as originally linked to officers responding to the victims) it appears this may be a crime of hate,” Grissafe said in an email.
Detectives are looking for several suspects in the assault.
Pasadena Police said of the incident on social media that “the department recognizes the importance of protecting the safety and dignity of all members of our community and we stand in solidarity with those affected by the heinous attacks. perpetrated last week”.
