HOUSTON – As the price of everything goes up, you might be wondering how to save. Our KPRC 2 team finds ways to help your family save money. Today we’re looking at how to get lower prices on expensive home appliances and what you need to know about buying scratch and dent resistant products.

Appliances are hard to find right now

If your washer, dryer, or refrigerator has broken down in the last couple of years, you may have noticed that it’s harder to find a new replacement at traditional retailers, and what’s in stock is much more expensive. than before. Employees cannot unload trucks fast enough.

“If you were to come here and say, ‘ah- I didn’t see the fridge I wanted.’ Wait a week. Wait three days,” said Brian Pawlowski, owner of Treasurez for Less circa 45 and 1960. “Ask someone…when’s your next truck coming? Because they’re still on the way here .

Pawlowski opened this clearance warehouse in 2018, buying surplus items from major retailers and selling them for up to 40% off. These are savings in today’s retail market that are hard to come by.

“We’re the inflation-proof type store, aren’t we? Because if that’s what’s bothering you? Paying more for stuff, why would you go anywhere but here where you’re going to pay less?” Pawlowski said. “None of these units have been used. They’re brand new.

While it sells everything from diapers to kitchen appliances, we’ve come to talk specifically about appliances.

Some may have dents or dings, but the imperfections are not always visible. So why would a big-box retailer liquidate them instead of selling them in its stores? Pawlowski said traders were now getting too many shipments as the supply stalemate eased.

“If they have 25 of them left when the new ones come, they have to do something with those 25,” he said, “They don’t have room in the store. They’re not going to store it. It just costs more money every day.

Are household appliances from scratches and dents covered by a warranty?

In a clearance warehouse or scratches and dents, you cannot benefit from the manufacturer’s warrantybut Pawlowski said, “If you have any issues with it in the first three to six months, we’ll just automatically take it back and trade it for you and give you the pick of whatever we have.”

Another thing you need to think about is how you bring your device home from scratches and bumps. You can take a truck and take it yourself. Treasurez for Less also partners with a third-party company that can deliver and transport your old devices for an additional fee.
