Akashi Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar Launches Commercial Rental of Magnolia Development

Akashi Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar, a Houston-based family restaurant with 10 locations in the area, signed a 5,900-square-foot lease at Magnolia Village, an upcoming mixed-use development planned by Houston-based Gulf Coast Commercial Group at FM 1488 and Spur 149 at Magnolia. Site preparations for the 60-acre development, which will include retail and apartments, are underway. The tenant was represented by Sluco Realty Services and Court Richardson of Ironbridge Realty Partners. Danny Miller, vice president of leasing at Gulf Coast Commercial Group, represented the owner. Akashi offers a casual, full-service dining experience that blends Japanese and Chinese elements. The opening schedule has not been set.

shampoo salon, a hair salon owned by Keelan Baker and Phuong Nguyen, is now open at MKT Heights, a development by Triten Real Estate Partners and Radom Capital at 600 N. Shepherd. The salon, which had been in Midtown since 2013, occupies a spot in Building 1, across from La La Land Kind Café and Sweetgreen and near SMYL Dentistry and Burdlife. “We chose MKT because it’s a great opportunity to be in a setting with an abundance of natural foot traffic from our neighboring tenants and the nearby community,” Nguyen said in an announcement. “We love the focus on family and people of all ages at MKT. It allows our stylists to be able to enjoy their new workplace and gives us the opportunity to grow our business and customer base naturally.”

Black Rock Coffee Bar, a national coffee chain founded in Portland, Oregon, has a new 2,000 square foot store at 11930 Broadway Street, Suite 110 in the Shadow Creek Ranch community of Pearland. With an opening date of Friday, June 17, the Pearland location is the sixth store in the Houston area and the 13th in Texas.

Sephora at Kohls will open a 2,500 square foot beauty supply store inside the Conroe Kohl’s store at 2808 Interstate 45 North on June 22. One of five planned for the Houston area, the Sephora store is designed to mimic the look of a standalone Sephora.

Aburi leased 3,348 square feet at Summit Plaza, 3800 Southwest Freeway, near Greenway Plaza. John Nguyen of NewQuest Properties represented the tenant. David Ferguson of BPI Realty represented the owner, Southwest Freeway Retail Center Ltd.

Khanh Duong, Truc Le and That Chi have leased 2,800 square feet of retail space for a nail salon in Fort Bend Town Center II, Texas 6 and Fort Bend Tollway, Missouri City from NewQuest Properties. Bob Conwell and Andrew Alvis of NewQuest Properties represented the owner. Khanh Ha of eXp Realty represented the tenant.

Bubba T’s Cajun Cooking has leased 2,500 square feet at Pin Oak Mall, 4130 FM 1488, Conroe, from Horkus Properties. John Nguyen of NewQuest Properties represented the owner. Abdul Sabha of Huntington Properties represented the tenant.

Unlimited Wild Birds leased 2,045 square feet to Clear Lake Shoppes at the Reserves, 5440 El Dorado Blvd. in southeast Houston.
